WebDoes anyone know or have a resource explaining the mechanics of a 4MATIC drivetrain and how it can vary the power to the rear wheels? My primary concern is how it can constantly slip a certain amount of power without wearing out the clutch packs. Thanks for your help!

Being a relatively lightweight platform w/ FWD drivetrain, I'd say the CLA would be fine w/ proper seasonal tires (proper winter/snow tires in the snow-belt regions). If it was RWD, then I could see the 4Matic being more critical in such areas w/ more tenuous climates.
